Why old pipe fails
Galvanized steel pipe rusts from the inside out. The rust narrows the line, drops your pressure, and eventually flakes into the water before the pipe finally leaks. You cannot see any of that from the outside until it shows up at the tap.
The tells
Low water pressure across the house, rusty or discolored water in the morning, and repeated pinhole leaks in the same run are the common signs. One leak is a repair. Three in the same wall is a pattern.
Repipe or patch
When you are patching the same section twice, replacing the run costs less over time than chasing the next leak. We will walk the house and show you which lines are worth replacing and which are fine.
